Education Minister Harjot Singh : Punjab to Dispatch 7th Group of 36 School Principals to Singapore for a 5-Day Training Program.

Education Minister Harjot Singh : In a move to enhance the quality of school education in the state, the Punjab Government has decided to send 36 school principals to Singapore for a five-day training program, announced School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.

He stated that 198 principals and education officers have already undergone training at Singapore’s Principal Academy under the Leadership Development Programme. The seventh batch of 36 principals is set to leave for Singapore in March this year. To facilitate international-level training for teachers, school heads, and education administrators, the state has established an “International Education Affairs Cell (IEAC)” within the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

Regarding the eligibility criteria, Education Minister Harjot Singh explained that applicants must be under 53 years old as of January 31, 2025, and possess an Indian passport valid until at least September 2025. Additionally, candidates must have no pending charge-sheets, inquiries, or criminal cases. Those meeting these initial conditions will proceed to the second round, where selection will be based on merit, determined by educational qualifications, experience, ACRs, and awards.

Highlighting the program’s significance, Education Minister Harjot Singh said that the visit is designed to equip principals with advanced leadership and educational skills. Through workshops, seminars, and hands-on activities, participants will gain exposure to Singapore’s globally recognized teaching methodologies and educational practices.

This international training is expected to instill a culture of continuous learning and innovation among principals. By applying newly acquired knowledge and sharing insights, they will contribute to a collaborative learning environment, driving systemic improvements in teaching and learning processes across Punjab’s schools, he added.
