Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya announces that EPFO has reached a historic achievement by settling more than 5 crore claims in the financial year 2024-25.

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, announced today that the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has reached a historic milestone by settling over 5 crore claims for the first time in its history. In the financial year 2024-25, EPFO processed more than 5.08 crore claims totaling Rs. 2,05,932.49 crore, surpassing the 4.45 crore claims worth Rs. 1,82,838.28 crore settled in the previous financial year, 2023-24.

Dr. Mandaviya emphasized that this outstanding achievement was made possible by a series of transformative reforms implemented by EPFO to improve claim settlement processes and address member grievances. “We have introduced key initiatives such as raising the ceiling and expanding categories for auto-settled claims, simplifying member profile updates, streamlining PF transfers, and enhancing KYC compliance. These reforms have significantly boosted the efficiency of EPFO,” he stated.

One of the major factors driving faster claim processing has been the auto-claim settlement mechanism, which ensures claims are settled within three days of submission. Dr. Mandaviya pointed out that the success of this reform is clear, as auto claim settlements have doubled to 1.87 crore claims in the current financial year, compared to 89.52 lakh auto claims processed throughout FY 2023-24.

Similarly, reforms in the PF transfer claim submission process have greatly streamlined the workflow. Since the introduction of a simplified transfer claim application, only 8% of transfer claims now require attestation from both the member and the employer. Notably, 48% of claims are submitted directly by members without the need for employer involvement, while 44% of transfer requests are generated automatically.

Dr. Mandaviya also highlighted the positive effects of member profile correction reforms. “Following the implementation of the simplified procedure, around 97.18% of member profile corrections have been self-approved by members, with only 1% needing employer approval, and office intervention has been reduced to just 0.4%. Additionally, rejection rates have dropped to 1.11% by employers and 0.21% by the regional office, demonstrating the effectiveness of the streamlined processes and the reduction in procedural delays,” the Union Minister stated.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving access for EPFO members, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized that the organization will continue to utilize technology and simplify processes to ensure a smooth and efficient service experience. “These reforms have not only sped up the claim settlement process but have also helped minimize member grievances, further strengthening trust in EPFO,” he added.
