This would mark the first official look at the game since its announcement during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase. According to individuals familiar with the matter—who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of ongoing company plans—the trailer for Wolverine has been completed and is ready for release. While it’s not 100% guaranteed to appear at the upcoming State of Play, insiders say it’s “almost certainly” on the slate. If it misses the event, fans can expect to see it in the near future, with The Game Awards later this year being the next likely venue.
What Else to Expect at State of Play
While Wolverine may be the main attraction, Insider Gaming sources also hint at a strong supporting lineup for the next State of Play. Expected titles include:
-
Bungie’s ‘Marathon’
-
Phantom Blade 0
-
A new Metroidvania-style God of War (with a mainline title also reportedly in development)
-
Naughty Dog’s mysterious new IP — Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
Sony has not officially confirmed the date for its next State of Play, but all signs point to an end-of-September window.
