According to party leaders, the decision reflects growing confidence in the governance and development-focused policies of the Punjab government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Several local political workers and supporters also joined AAP during the event, strengthening the party’s grassroots presence in Faridkot.
The political shift comes at a crucial time as major parties in Punjab are preparing for the upcoming municipal council and nagar panchayat elections. Political observers believe that the exit of a sitting municipal council president from Congress could weaken the party’s local organizational strength and influence in the area.
AAP leaders described the joining as a sign of the party’s growing popularity across Punjab. They also expressed confidence that more leaders from opposition parties may join the ruling party in the coming weeks ahead of the civic polls.
The development is expected to intensify political competition in Faridkot, where local body elections are likely to play a key role in shaping future political equations in the district.
