Fawad Khan–Vaani Kapoor’s Abir Gulaal Stumbles With Critics Worldwide
Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor’s latest film Abir Gulaal has released internationally but remains barred from hitting theaters in India. The decision follows the tragic Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year, in which Lashkar-linked militants targeted tourists, leaving 27 dead.

Poor Reception Abroad
While anticipation was high for the film’s global debut, early reviews from international media outlets have been far from encouraging. The BBC Asian Network described Abir Gulaal as a “frustrating romantic film,” highlighting issues with both execution and storytelling.
Critic Haroon Rashid, in a sharp critique, wrote:
“I found this to be one of the most frustrating romantic dramas I’ve watched in a very long time. Not only does it look cheap, but it is such an incoherent, inconsistent storyline, which is such an injustice to the talent that you’re working with.”
