Franchise Reborn: Final Destination 6 Tops Horror Openings Since 2022
After a slow previous frame, the box office rebounded in a big way this weekend thanks to the explosive debut of Final Destination: Bloodlines. The sixth installment in the long-running horror franchise opened to $51 million domestically, topping the charts and marking the biggest horror debut of 2025 so far.
Playing in 3,523 theaters across North America, Final Destination: Bloodlines scored a $14,476 per screen average, outperforming recent genre hits like Sinners ($48M) and Alien: Romulus ($42M). The film’s domestic opening nearly doubled the franchise’s previous best opening of $27.4 million and is already on pace to become one of the highest-grossing entries in the series.
Globally, Final Destination: Bloodlines earned an additional $51 million overseas, bringing its worldwide opening total to $102 million. Key international markets included Mexico ($5.5M), the UK ($5.3M), and the Philippines ($3.4M).
The strong opening was supported by a 93% Rotten Tomatoes score, a franchise record, and a solid “B+” CinemaScore. Social media engagement was significant, with over 353 million impressions driven by viral campaigns and stunts—including a promotional log truck traveling through major cities.
