The ongoing ‘Give Up Campaign’ for voluntary deletion of names by the eligible persons in the National Food Security Scheme in Rajasthan is proving to be a ray of hope for the eligible people deprived of food security in the state.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and under the guidance of Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shri Sumit Godara, a ‘Give Up Campaign’ is being run since 1st November last year to motivate the eligible persons to voluntarily remove their names from the Food Security List. So far, more than 25 lakh eligible beneficiaries have voluntarily given up food security across the state. Also, about 27.62 lakh people in the state did not complete e-KYC, due to which their names were automatically removed from the food security list. Due to this campaign, great success is also being achieved in connecting the eligible underprivileged with food security. Since the re-launch of the Food Security Portal on 26th January, more than 54 lakh eligible beneficiaries have been linked to Food Security.
The State Government is constantly working towards providing food security to all the eligible underprivileged. There is a ceiling of about 4.46 crore beneficiaries under NFSA in proportion to the population in the state. Due to the completion of this number, the newly eligible beneficiaries were not getting the benefit of food security. In view of this, the government has launched the Give Up campaign, which will run till the coming 31st of August.
The people of the state saw this campaign as an important step for social justice. In the Give Up campaign, the maximum number of people have voluntarily removed their names so far in Jaipur district, followed by 95,582 in Sikar district, 92,428 in Udaipur district, 88,787 in Bikaner district and 86,530 in Banswara district. Due to the cooperation received from the public, today the Give Up campaign has taken the form of a public movement in the state. The campaign aims to ensure that all eligible and ineligible beneficiaries voluntarily give up food security so that the genuine needy can get the benefit of the scheme. Intensive monitoring of the Give Up campaign is being done in all the districts of the state.
Eligible beneficiaries of food security are also getting 12 gas cylinders at Rs 450 per year under Mukhyamantri Rasoi Gas Subsidy Yojana, security insurance of Rs 5 lakh under Mukhyamantri Ayushman Accident Insurance Scheme and free medical facility under Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana. With this welfare step of the state government, the deprived people are joining the mainstream. In the state budget year 2025-26, 10 lakh new beneficiaries were announced to be connected to food security, this target was accomplished by the department during the budget session itself.
