After witnessing a sharp rise over the past two sessions, gold prices in India have edged lower again on January 3, 2026. The initial surge in the new year, driven by rising demand for gold jewelry, saw 24-carat gold prices jump by nearly ₹12,000 per 100 grams. However, today, both gold and silver witnessed a minor correction, putting some pressure on buyers in the bullion and jewelry markets.

On January 3, the 24-carat gold rate dropped by ₹380, trading at:
₹1,35,820 per 10 grams
₹13,58,200 per 100 grams
The 22-carat gold price also slipped slightly by ₹350, now priced at:

₹12,45,000 per 100 grams

Silver prices corrected slightly after recent gains and are now:

MCX Gold & Silver Futures Update
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX):
Gold futures for February delivery settled at ₹1,35,752 per 10 grams, down 0.04%
Silver futures for March delivery closed at ₹2,36,599, up 0.31%
International Gold & Silver Prices
Globally, spot gold was steady at $4,313.29 per ounce, while U.S. February gold futures fell 0.3% to $4,329.6/oz. Spot silver advanced 0.7% to $71.77/oz, according to Reuters.
Outlook for Gold and Silver
Market analysts suggest that the recent dip in gold prices reflects temporary market corrections after strong gains. According to the Way to Wealth Report, gold is trading near the 20 DEMA line support, and a break below could trigger further selling. Immediate resistance is seen at ₹1,36,350 per 10 grams, while support is around ₹1,34,300. Traders are advised to monitor these levels before making buying decisions.
