The gold rate today registered a sharp decline on Tuesday, offering some relief to jewellery buyers after prices remained near record highs in recent sessions. According to the latest bullion market data, the price of 24-karat gold dropped by ₹1,420 to ₹1,42,900 per 10 grams from Monday’s ₹1,44,320.
Meanwhile, 22-karat gold declined by ₹1,300 to ₹1,30,990 per 10 grams, while 18-karat gold slipped by ₹1,070 to ₹1,07,170 per 10 grams.
Gold Rate Today Extends Losses After Recent Market Volatility
The latest fall comes after bullion prices witnessed mixed movement over the past few trading sessions. On Monday, 24K gold had already declined by ₹130 per 10 grams, while 22K and 18K gold eased by ₹120 and ₹100, respectively.
Despite this correction, the gold rate today continues to remain close to record levels as global uncertainty and safe-haven demand continue to support bullion prices.
Why Gold Prices Are Falling
Analysts believe the decline is mainly due to profit booking and changing expectations regarding global interest rates. At the same time, investors remain cautious as the ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to create uncertainty in global financial markets.
Domestic gold prices are influenced by several factors, including international bullion prices, the rupee-dollar exchange rate, import duties and overall investor sentiment.

Wedding Season Keeps Demand Strong
Even as prices eased, demand for gold jewellery has remained healthy during the ongoing wedding season. Bullion traders say customers continue to purchase gold despite elevated prices, while investors are closely monitoring whether the current correction deepens or prices resume their upward trend.
The gold rate today is expected to remain volatile as markets react to global economic data and geopolitical developments.
Chennai Continues to Top the Price Chart
Among the major cities, Chennai recorded the highest gold prices on Tuesday. The price of 24K gold stood at ₹1,43,990 per 10 grams, while 22K gold was priced at ₹1,31,990 and 18K gold at ₹1,10,190.
In Delhi, 24K gold was available at ₹1,43,050 per 10 grams, while 22K and 18K gold were priced at ₹1,31,140 and ₹1,07,320, respectively.
Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kerala and Pune reported the national benchmark prices, with 24K gold at ₹1,42,900, 22K gold at ₹1,30,990 and 18K gold at ₹1,07,170 per 10 grams.
Gold prices in Ahmedabad and Vadodara were slightly higher than the national average, with 24K gold priced at ₹1,42,950, 22K gold at ₹1,31,040 and 18K gold at ₹1,07,220 per 10 grams.
Outlook
The gold rate today reflects a healthy correction after recent highs, but the overall outlook remains dependent on global economic conditions, interest rate expectations and geopolitical developments. Buyers planning to purchase jewellery should check live rates with local jewellers, as final prices may vary due to GST and making charges. With uncertainty still dominating global markets, the gold rate today is expected to remain volatile in the coming sessions.
