Governor Mangubhai Patel attends the closing ceremony of the 44th All India Rose Exhibition
Governor Mangubhai Patel said that there is a deep connection between Indian culture and nature. He emphasized the special significance of flowers, particularly roses, in daily life and important events. He highlighted that the philosophy of life is reflected in the entire life span of a rose. Governor Shri Patel was addressing the closing ceremony of the 44th All India Rose Exhibition. He also visited the rose exhibition organized on the occasion.
Governor Mangubhai Patel awarded the winning participants in the closing ceremony. He congratulated the organizers for the decision to host the World Rose Convention in 2028 and also for organizing it in Bhopal. Governor Shri Patel also released a booklet based on the All India Rose Exhibition.
Governor Mangubhai Patel emphasized the soothing and uplifting power of nature, stating that it strengthens emotions, refreshes the heart and mind, and brings joy. He compared the cultural unity of India, which thrives amidst diverse geography, languages, food, clothing, and lifestyles, to the rose, which has over 100 variations in form, colour, size, and type. He explained the symbolic meanings of different coloured roses: white represents peace and purity, red symbolizes true love, yellow signifies friendship, pink conveys respect and appreciation, and orange reflects enthusiasm. Governor Patel noted that the rose flower plays a silent yet powerful role in expressing human emotions and relationships, be it social, religious, or familial relations.
Governor Mangubhai Patel acknowledged the growing significance of floriculture, emphasizing its multipurpose importance in today’s world. He encouraged the adoption of floriculture practices based on climate change, highlighting rose cultivation as a means to promote economic prosperity and improve the well-being of farmers. Governor Patel pointed out the vast export potential of roses and called for efforts to encourage research and the development of new varieties to boost the commercial cultivation of roses.
Plant a tree on special occasions
Governor Mangubhai Patel said that the ancient traditions of Indian culture are rooted in a deep connection with nature and the conservation of biodiversity. In light of the changing environmental scenario, he stressed the importance of adopting an eco-friendly lifestyle. He urged everyone to plant a tree on special occasions each year and take proper care of it to contribute to environmental preservation.
Governor Mangubhai Patel was warmly welcomed with a bouquet at the function. Horticulture and Food Processing and Social Justice and Disabled Welfare Minister Shri Narayan Singh Kushwaha announced that starting from 2026, the rose exhibition will be organized on a grand scale, with extensive preparations being made for the World Rose Convention in Bhopal in 2028. He also shared details about the state’s efforts in promoting floriculture. Backward Classes and Minority Welfare, Denotifed, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Welfare Minister Smt. Krishna Gaur congratulated Madhya Pradesh and Bhopal for hosting the World Rose Convention in 2028. She commended the ongoing rose exhibition, which has been supported by the state’s rose enthusiasts and the city.
Additional Chief Secretary of the Horticulture Department, Shri Anupam Rajan, assured that the government and administrative levels would provide all possible support to improve the format of the rose exhibition in the coming years. Sushri Diana, President of the World Federation of Rose Societies, shared insights about organizing rose exhibitions globally. Shri Sunil Prakash, Treasurer of the Rose Society, outlined the structure of the rose exhibition. The welcome address was delivered by Shri S.S. Gadre, President of the Madhya Pradesh Rose Society, while Shri Avinash Galande, the Secretary of the organization, proposed the vote of thanks. The closing ceremony of the rose exhibition was attended by the Commissioner of the Horticulture Department Smt. Preeti Maithil, rose enthusiasts, farmers, and participants.
