Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel has designated 11 additional talukas as part of the state’s push for balanced and holistic development. The decision was made based on the state’s commitment to fostering economic and social growth across all regions, with these areas identified using 44 key indicators from the Human Development Index (HDI).
Under the Developing Taluka Scheme, each newly designated taluka will receive an annual grant of Rs 3 crore. This fund will be allocated in two parts: Rs 2 crore for general development and an additional Rs 1 crore through the Aapno Taluko Vibrant Taluko (ATVT) – Developing Taluka Scheme. These financial resources are aimed at supporting infrastructure and development projects that enhance the quality of life for residents.
The 11 newly recognized developing talukas include Kadwal (Chhota Udepur district), Ukai (Tapi district), Govind Guru Limdi (Dahod district), Sukhsar (Dahod district), Chikda (Narmada district), Rah (Vav-Tharad district), Dharnidhar (Vav-Tharad district), Ogad (Banaskantha district), Hadad (Banaskantha district), Godhar (Mahisagar district), and Nana Pondha (Valsad district).

The CM’s initiative also aligns with the state’s ongoing efforts to reorganize talukas to better meet emerging needs. As part of this restructuring, 17 new talukas have been formed, with several of them now joining the ranks of the developing talukas due to the transfer of over 50% of villages from previous development-focused areas.
This decision underscores CM Bhupendra Patel commitment to fostering balanced growth throughout Gujarat, ensuring that all regions, regardless of their current development status, benefit from targeted financial support.
Additionally, the Gujarat government has announced the second edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) for the Kutch and Saurashtra regions, set to take place in Rajkot from January 10-12, 2026. Concurrently, the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Exhibition (VGRE) will run from January 10-13, 2026, further promoting Gujarat’s vision for regional development.
Through these initiatives, Gujarat aims to provide a significant boost to infrastructure, employment, and community well-being, contributing to the state’s continued progress.
