AAP Gujarat President Isudan Gadhvi targets BJP govt over Gujarat floods, demands ₹1 crore aid for victims’ families and compensation for losses.
Ahmedabad, Gujarat: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat President Isudan Gadhvi has strongly criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government over the recent floods and heavy rainfall that devastated several parts of Gujarat. Addressing a press conference, Gadhvi alleged that the government’s failure to carry out effective pre-monsoon preparations and long-standing corruption had worsened the disaster.
According to Gadhvi, the severe flooding from South Gujarat to Ahmedabad has exposed major shortcomings in the state’s infrastructure and disaster management. He claimed that despite spending thousands of crores of rupees on development and pre-monsoon works, residential areas, factories, shops, and newly constructed roads were submerged or damaged after the heavy rains.
AAP Alleges Administrative Failure
Isudan Gadhvi stated that media reports indicate that more than 56 people have lost their lives due to the floods, while several others are still reported missing. Calling the situation heartbreaking, he demanded that the Gujarat government provide ₹1 crore as financial assistance to the family of every person who died in the disaster.
He also alleged that the state’s pre-monsoon preparedness existed only on paper and accused authorities of holding review meetings without ensuring real implementation on the ground.

Corruption in Urban Planning Blamed
The AAP leader Isudan Gadhvi further claimed that corruption in Town Planning (TP) schemes had obstructed the natural flow of rainwater, leading to flooding even in premium residential areas of Ahmedabad and Surat.
According to Gadhvi, irregularities in urban development projects have disrupted drainage systems, causing water to accumulate in expensive residential colonies and commercial establishments. He argued that poor planning and alleged favouritism in development projects have contributed significantly to the crisis.
South Gujarat Among Worst-Hit Regions
Isudan Gadhvi said districts such as Valsad, Navsari, Surat, and Tapi were among the worst affected by the floods. He claimed that the scale of destruction had reached alarming levels, with reports of bodies being swept away in floodwaters and widespread damage to public and private property.
He described the situation as evidence of what he called “three decades of corruption” under BJP rule in Gujarat.
Demand for Immediate Relief and Damage Survey
The AAP leader Isudan Gadhvi urged the Gujarat government to immediately conduct a comprehensive survey of losses suffered by residents, farmers, traders, and industrial units. He called for prompt compensation to families whose homes, agricultural land, shops, factories, and livelihoods have been affected by the floods.
Isudan Gadhvi maintained that disaster relief should reach affected citizens without delay and stressed that accountability must be fixed for what he described as failures in planning and infrastructure management.
He concluded by saying that the people of Gujarat deserve transparent governance, effective disaster preparedness, and timely relief rather than what he alleged were unfulfilled promises and inadequate administrative action.
