Hanuman Ansh, made for ₹2 crore, beats Yash’s Toxic in daily box office collections despite a much smaller budget and fewer screens.
At a time when big-budget films and established stars usually dominate the box office, Hanuman Ansh has delivered a surprising turnaround. The devotional film based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba is currently outperforming Yash-starrer Toxic in daily Indian box office collections.
The contrast between the two films is striking. While Toxic was made on a reported budget of around ₹500 crore and released across multiple languages, Hanuman Ansh was produced on a modest budget of just ₹2 crore and features no major mainstream star.
Hanuman Ansh Surpasses Toxic on Day 26
Hanuman Ansh had a slow beginning after arriving in theatres on August 7. The film collected only around ₹10 lakh on its opening day and initially appeared unlikely to make a major impact at the box office.
However, its fortunes changed dramatically after three weeks. During its fourth weekend, the film recorded a strong jump in audience interest and earned around ₹28 crore net in India.
The biggest surprise came on Tuesday, when the film was on its 26th day. Hanuman Ansh witnessed a reported 54% rise in collections and earned ₹8.50 crore net in India.
In comparison, Toxic collected approximately ₹8.20 crore on the same day. This performance is particularly notable because Toxic is playing in five languages and has been released on more than 1,500 additional screens compared with the devotional film.

From Fewer Than 100 Screens to Over 1,500
The journey of Hanuman Ansh at the box office has been highly unusual. The film initially opened in fewer than 100 theatres. Its screen count fell to around 20 during the second week as audience response remained limited.
The situation changed when word-of-mouth interest began driving more viewers toward the film. By its fourth week, the movie had expanded to more than 1,500 screens across India.
If the trend continues, exhibitors could allocate even more screens to Hanuman Ansh, particularly if its strong occupancy and collections remain consistent. The film’s unexpected success has made it one of the biggest box-office surprises of the year.
What Is Hanuman Ansh About?
Directed and written by Vishal Chaturvedi, the film explores the spiritual journey of Lakshman Das, who later became widely known as Neem Karoli Baba.
The story follows his life from the age of 13 and focuses on his journey toward spirituality and the devotion he eventually inspired among followers. Chandan Anand and Shobhinav Satyaa play the lead roles in the film.
Made on a shoestring budget of ₹2 crore, the movie arrived in theatres without the kind of promotional campaign normally associated with major releases. Despite that, it has reportedly crossed the ₹50 crore mark in net domestic collections and is now eyeing the ₹100 crore milestone.
A David vs Goliath Box Office Story
The performance of Hanuman Ansh has created a remarkable contrast with Toxic. Yash’s action film arrived with enormous expectations, a pan-India release and a massive production scale. Yet, the much smaller devotional movie has managed to attract audiences and generate stronger daily collections at this stage of its theatrical run.
Produced by Swambhu Media Network Pvt. Ltd., Ragini S., Namrata G. S. and Anupriya A. Nagar, Hanuman Ansh continues to run in theatres.
The film’s rise from an extremely modest opening to a ₹50 crore-plus theatrical performer highlights how audience word-of-mouth can sometimes transform the fortunes of a movie, even without a major star or a huge opening-day audience.
