Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Hardeep Mundian on Monday inaugurated new water supply projects worth ₹1.11 crore in the villages of Naharpur and Narowali, located in the Dera Baba Nanak Assembly constituency.
Hardeep Mundian was joined by MLA S. Gurdeep Singh Randhawa, AAP District President and Chairman of the District Planning Committee Gurdaspur Sh and other officials. The minister also planted saplings at the sites of the projects.
After dedicating the schemes to the people, Hardeep Mundian highlighted that the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government has ensured access to clean drinking water for 100% of the state’s population. He explained that in Naharpur, a sum of ₹62.36 lakh was invested to provide potable water facilities to 153 households. The infrastructure includes a deep bore well, a 25,000-liter tank, pipelines, solar panels, a chlorinator, and new water connections. Additionally, 48 toilets were built in the village under the Swachh Bharat Mission at a cost of ₹7.20 lakh.
In Narowali, a water supply scheme worth ₹48.68 lakh was launched, which will benefit 58 households with safe drinking water. Under the same mission, 27 toilets were constructed in the village at a cost of ₹4.05 lakh.

Addressing the gathering, Mundian reaffirmed the Mann government’s commitment to public welfare, citing initiatives such as providing 300 units of free electricity per month, under which more than 90% of consumers receive zero bills. He also mentioned that over 55,000 government jobs have been given in the last three and a half years, and significant progress has been achieved through Sikhya Kranti and Sehat Kranti reforms. From October 2025, the government will roll out the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana, offering health insurance coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family.
MLA Gurdeep Singh Randhawa expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mann and Minister Mundian, noting that the two projects were completed in record time. He added that since the AAP government assumed office, 13 water supply schemes worth ₹6.82 crore and 54 Community Sanitary Complexes costing ₹1.62 crore have been completed in the Dera Baba Nanak constituency. In addition, 1,480 toilets are being built at a cost of ₹13.4 crore, with 898 completed and the rest nearing completion.
