To strengthen leadership, managerial skills, and academic performance among ITI and Polytechnic principals in Punjab, a team of experts from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, will visit the state in February. They will interact with key stakeholders and evaluate training needs to refine the program further, announced Harjot Singh Bains, Punjab’s Minister of Technical Education and Industrial Training.

IIM-Ahmedabad, ranked number one in the NIRF rankings and globally recognized for its excellence, is a leader in management education. It is renowned for its innovative teaching methods, groundbreaking research, and strong commitment to academic and professional excellence.

Minister of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Harjot Singh Bains, stated that the department, in collaboration with IIM-Ahmedabad, has developed a specialized Management Development Program (MDP) for ITI and Polytechnic principals, as well as senior department officials. He announced that IIM-Ahmedabad faculty members will visit Punjab from February 12 to 15, 2025, to interact with key stakeholders and evaluate training needs. This transformative initiative aims to enhance technical and vocational institutions, positioning them as Centres of Excellence.

To strengthen Punjab’s technical education ecosystem and equip its leaders for the sector’s evolving demands, Harjot Singh Bains announced that the Management Development Program will bring together 30 principals from ITIs and Polytechnics, along with key departmental officials, for an intensive five-day residential training at the esteemed IIM-Ahmedabad campus.

During this program, participants will engage in 20 thoughtfully curated interactive sessions, gaining valuable insights from distinguished IIM-Ahmedabad professors, including Prof. Ambrish Dongre and Prof. Neharika Vohra.

The training is designed to empower participants with effective leadership and management skills for technical education institutions. It will also enhance their strategic planning and budgeting capabilities, improve conflict resolution skills, strengthen communication strategies, and refine team and time management, he added.

Furthermore, the program will facilitate knowledge exchange and the implementation of best practices in vocational education and skill development. Aligned with the vision of advancing Punjab’s technical and vocational education institutions, this initiative aims to yield substantial benefits by strengthening leadership capabilities among senior officials.
