Chief Electoral Officer holds first meeting with representatives of political parties on Assembly Elections

Chandigarh, August 3-

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Pankaj Agarwal said that the preliminary voter list for the state has been published at all designated locations on August 2, 2024, following the Election Commission of India’s voter list revision program. He requested representatives of political parties to thoroughly review the list and report any errors by August 16 using Forms 6, 7, and 8 to the concerned election registration officer.

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Pankaj Agarwal was holding a meeting in Chandigarh with representatives of all recognised political parties in the state to discuss the second revision of the voter list.

He stated that there will be a total of 20,629 polling booths for the upcoming Assembly elections, with 817 new booths created. In the last Lok Sabha elections, the state had 19,812 polling booths. Apart from this, 699 polling booths have been adjusted. The first-level checking of EVMs is being conducted by engineers from Bharat Electronics Limited in all 22 districts of the state. Political party representatives can be present during this checking by contacting their district office in charge.

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Pankaj Agarwal stated that special dates have been set for the preparation of the revised voter list August 3, 4, 10, and 11 (Saturdays and Sundays). Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present at polling stations on these dates to assist people in registering to vote. He has appealed to the representatives of all the political parties present to appoint their booth level agents so that they can contact the BLO on these dates. According to Election Commission guidelines, BLAs cannot submit more than 10 forms to the BLO during the voter list revision, the Chief Electoral Officer added.

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Pankaj Agarwal said that all recognized political parties are entitled to get two copies of the voter lists—one printed and one soft copy. He requested party representatives to collect the draft voter list from the district election officer or registration officer. The draft voter list for all 90 Assembly constituencies has been published, and claims and objections will be resolved by August 26. The final publication of the voter list will be on August 27. Only those whose names are included in the voter list will be allowed to vote.

Form-6 for getting the vote registered, Form-7 for getting the vote cancelled and Form-8 for changing the address are available on the Election Commission’s portal https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ and the department’s website https://ceoharyana.gov.in/ For any assistance, suggestions, or complaints, one can contact the district election or registration officer or call the Chief Election Officer’s toll-free number 1950.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Smt. Hema Sharma, Joint Chief Electoral Officer , Sh. Apurv and Sh. Raj Kumar, from the recognized political parties, Sh. Virendra Garg from Bharatiya Janata Party, Sardar Talwinder Singh from Indian National Congress and others remained present during the meeting.
