Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the importance of planting trees for a clean environment, urging everyone to plant at least one tree. He stated that a greater number of trees would lead to a cleaner environment.
The Haryana Chief Minister planted the tree under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign on Sunday at Radha Soami Dera Sikanderpur in Sirsa district, on the occasion of Guru Purnima. The campaign aims to protect the environment and prevent pollution through tree planting. The Chief Minister, along with Radha Soami Dera volunteers, planted 20,000 saplings to send a message against environmental pollution.
Sh. Nayab Singh Saini expressed his pleasure that the Dera is participating in initiatives for both human welfare and environmental protection. He praised the efforts of the Dera volunteers.
He emphasized the need to focus on environmental purity alongside serving humanity. Trees and forests play a significant role in keeping the soil fertile for agriculture. Therefore, it is essential to plant more trees, develop forests, and protect the plants. The more trees there are, the cleaner our environment will be. He noted that the continuous rise in temperature is partly due to excessive tree cutting.
He mentioned that environmental imbalance is a cause for concern and highlighted the importance of the tree planting campaign. A pure environment leads to a healthy individual, and a healthy individual contributes to the nation’s progress.
Haryana Government to Appoint 50,000 Van Mitras
The Haryana Chief Minister announced that the state government will appoint 50,000 ‘Van Mitras’ to protect the environment. The scheme aims to empower local communities to play an active role in expanding the state’s green cover, thereby enhancing the survival rate of newly planted trees and promoting the planting of trees outside traditional forest zones. They will be compensated Rs. 20 per tree by the government. Similarly, under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, Van Mitras will receive Rs. 10 per tree for maintaining the planted saplings.
Prime Minister Launched ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign on World Environment Day
The Haryana Chief Minister shared that Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi launched the unique campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign on World Environment Day, June 5, in Delhi. The Prime Minister emphasized respecting Mother Earth as much as we respect our mother. Planting a tree in the name of one’s mother not only honors her but also protects Mother Earth.
The Haryana Chief Minister affirmed that the Haryana government is committed to making the state green and pollution-free under the guidance of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi. Therefore, the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign is being implemented in Haryana as well.
He pointed out that environmental pollution is a global concern. This year, temperatures in several districts of Haryana reached 50 degrees Celsius, which is alarming. He urged every family to plant at least one tree and take a pledge to plant trees on occasions like birthdays, wedding anniversaries, or any other celebration to contribute to environmental protection.
State to Plant 1.5 crore Saplings This Year
The Haryana Chief Minister revealed that the state government annually conducts tree planting campaigns like ‘Har Ghar Hariyali’ and ‘Paudhagiri’ with citizen participation. This year, the goal is to plant 1.5 crore saplings, ensuring public involvement and monitoring the growth of the trees to increase the forest cover in Haryana.
Every Individual Should Plant a Tree: Aseem Goel
At the event, Minister of State for Transport, Sh. Aseem Goel described the tree planting campaign as a social movement. He praised the Dera for its efforts in human welfare, including the environmental protection tree planting campaign. He expressed gratitude for being part of the campaign under Baba Ji’s blessings, which inspires them to work for the greater good.
The Transport Minister called on people to plant at least one tree under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and contribute significantly to making the state green and pollution-free, so future generations do not face environmental pollution issues.
