Haryana Government amended State Award Policy for teachers in universities and Colleges
Service evaluation period reduced from 15 Years to 10 years
New teachers will also have a chance to receive awards
Total of 14 State Awards annually; winners will receive Rs. 1 Lakh cash prize and a citation

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini has approved an amendment in the policy of State Award for teachers working in State Universities, Government Colleges, and Government-aided Private Colleges. According to the amendment, the service evaluation period for teachers has been reduced from 15 years to 10 years. This change will allow new teachers to also be eligible for awards.
Sharing information in this regard a spokesperson from the Higher Education Department said that, the state government runs a State Teacher Award Scheme for Excellence and Commendable Services for the contribution of teachers working in various State Universities, Government Colleges and Government-aided Private colleges for their academic, curricular and extracurricular assignments. The aim of these awards is to honour faculty members for their outstanding performance in the field of teaching.
The spokesperson said that faculty members in higher education who demonstrate outstanding exceptional academic efficiency, quality of teaching, professional competence, good conduct, team spirit, community engagement, and use innovative teaching methods will be recommended for the awards.

The spokesperson said that under the policy, a total of 14 state awards will be given each year, for their outstanding services.
The awards will be distributed as follows: 2 awards for state universities under the purview of higher education, 8 awards for government colleges, and 4 awards for government-aided private colleges in Haryana. The Winners will be awarded Rs.1 lakh in cash, a citation, and a shawl.
The spokesperson said that under the State Universities, 1 award will be given to the Faculties of Sciences/Engineering and Technology/Health Sciences/Commerce and Management, and 1 award will be given to the Faculties of Humanities/Social Sciences. Similarly, 2 awards will be given to the Science Faculties, 4 to the Faculties of Languages/Humanities/Social Sciences and 2 to the Faculties of Commerce and Management of Government College. At the same time, 1 award will be given to the Government-aided Private college in the Faculties of Science, 2 in the Faculties of Languages/Humanities/Social Sciences, and 1 in the Faculties of Commerce and Management.
Eligibility criteria for the award
Eligibility criteria include that teachers must be working in State Universities/Government Colleges/Government-aided colleges situated in the jurisdiction of the Haryana State. All regular working faculty members who have taught for at least 10 years and have an outstanding record in teaching, research, and contributions to students/society are eligible for the award. However, once a teacher has received the award, they are not eligible for it again.
The Teacher Award will consist of 4 levels, in which teachers will be given scores out of a total of 200 scores based on academic excellence and service record during the last 10 years, extra-curricular achievements and contribution to society, contribution to institutional development and research work. Teachers who score at least 50 percent out of a total of 200 points will be eligible for the award.
