- Haryana launches Three-Day Forensic Training Program for Public Prosecutors

Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. T.V.S.N. Prasad, virtually inaugurated the first-of-its-kind three-day training program for the state’s public prosecutors (District Attorneys and Additional District Attorneys) today. The program focuses on forensic analysis and other aspects of criminal justice delivery.
On June 29, an agreement was signed between the Haryana Government and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, to enhance, facilitate, and strengthen collaborative activities in forensic and prosecutorial training, research, and forensic sample testing. As part of this initiative, the training course was launched today at HIPA, Gurugram. Initially, 26 District Attorneys and Additional District Attorneys are participating.
Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. TVSN Prasad addressed the government lawyers undergoing training at the Haryana Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), Gurugram. He directed the Director General, HIPA to collaborate with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) to develop a standardised curriculum. The training should have three components: the first at HIPA, the second at the Lok Nayak Jayprakash Narayan National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Sciences (LNJN-NICFS) at Rohini, New Delhi and the third at the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Prasad emphasised the crucial role of forensic science in securing convictions in serious crimes. This course is therefore being made mandatory for all public prosecutors to enhance their expertise in forensic sciences. He also highlighted the increased responsibility of public prosecutors to ensure justice for the underprivileged, noting the challenges of access to justice for the poor.
Chief Secretary, Sh. Prasad further stressed the importance of government lawyers handling criminal cases in addition to their existing responsibilities.
Director General, HIPA, Smt. Chandralekha Mukherjee stated that the three-day training will cover several critical topics, including biological evidence in crime detection, recent trends in cybercrime and forensics, crime scene management, crimes involving firearms, road accident investigation, document examination and admissibility, and the role of forensic psychology.
