Haryana CM Nayab Saini reaffirms the state’s support for a free press, praising Punjab Kesari for fearless journalism and urging media to continue spreading truth and righteousness.
Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Saini has reiterated the state government’s steadfast support for a free and fearless press, emphasizing that the media serves as the fourth pillar of democracy and any attempt to suppress it is a serious error. “The voice of truth can never be suppressed,” CM Saini stated during his address on Saturday.
The Chief Minister Nayab Saini spoke as the Chief Guest at the Ramleela Samiti Samman Samaroh held in Jalandhar, where he honored office-bearers, artists, and social workers from various Ramleela committees across Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh.
Paying tribute at the feet of Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram, CM Saini highlighted the cultural and moral significance of Ramleela, calling it more than just a stage performance, but the soul of India’s cultural heritage. “Ramleela teaches the next generation that no matter how powerful evil may seem, truth and righteousness will always triumph,” he said.
The Chief Minister Nayab Saini lauded the efforts of Ramleela organizers and artists for preserving traditional values even in modern times. He also appreciated the Shri Ram Navami Utsav Samiti for successfully organizing meaningful events that reinforce cultural and ethical values.
Recalling the dark days of terrorism in Punjab, CM Nayab Saini praised the role of courageous journalism in upholding truth and justice. He specifically acknowledged the Punjab Kesari Group for maintaining high standards of fearless reporting and ethical journalism over decades.
“There was a time when fear dominated society, and people were afraid to step outside their homes. Yet, this media group continued its work, never bowing to threats or violence,” he said, paying homage to martyrs Lala Jagat Narayan Ji and Sh Romesh Chandra Chopra Ji, who sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of the nation.
CM Nayab Saini also recognized the Punjab Kesari Group’s extensive social service initiatives. Over the past 26 years, the group has dispatched 910 trucks of relief material to border areas, with additional relief trucks flagged off during the event itself.
Urging Ramleela committees to continue spreading the ideals of Lord Shri Ram, CM Saini emphasized that just as Ravana’s arrogance was destroyed, forces that attempt to silence truth will also be defeated.
Boosting the morale of Punjab Kesari Group’s Editor-in-Chief Sh Vijay Kumar Chopra, the Chief Minister said, “In this battle against attempts to suppress the voice of the media, you are not alone. Keep writing with courage and conviction, as the pen is the strongest shield of democracy.”
CM Nayab Saini’s message underlines the importance of fearless journalism, cultural preservation, and social responsibility, reinforcing Haryana’s commitment to supporting a transparent and independent media ecosystem.
