In a significant move to blend financial welfare with social development, the Haryana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has approved major amendments to the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana (DDLLY). The updates, sanctioned on Thursday, January 1, 2026, aim to encourage academic excellence and promote long-term financial security for women across the state.
A New Approach: Direct Cash meets Mandatory Savings
While the monthly assistance remains fixed at INR 2,100, the government is shifting toward a “savings-first” model. Starting from the second month of enrollment, the disbursement will be split into two parts:
-
INR,1000: Credited directly to the beneficiary’s savings bank account for immediate needs.
-
INR,1100: Deposited into a government-operated Recurring Deposit (RD) or Fixed Deposit (FD).
The accumulated amount, including interest, will be paid to the women upon maturity. This tenure is set to be decided by the government but will not exceed five years.
Rewarding Academic Excellence and Health
The most notable expansion of the scheme is the inclusion of “outcome-oriented” criteria. The scheme now extends to mothers who meet the following conditions, even if their family income is up to Rs.1.80 lakh (higher than the original INR 1 lakh limit):
-
Academic Merit: Mothers whose children score over 80% marks in Class 10 or 12 board exams in government schools.
-
Early Competency: Mothers of children in Classes 1–4 who achieve grade-level competency under the NIPUN Bharat Mission.
-
Nutritional Success: Mothers who successfully rehabilitate children from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) or Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM).
Note: To align with family planning goals, mothers with more than three children will not be eligible under these newly added academic and health categories.
Community-Led Validation for Transparency
To ensure that benefits reach genuine applicants, the Cabinet has introduced a community-level verification layer. After initial digital verification via the Lado Lakshmi App, lists of beneficiaries will be shared with Gram Sabhas (rural) and Ward Committees (urban) for public validation.
Impact and Vision
Since its launch on September 25, 2025, the scheme has seen massive adoption, with approximately 10 lakh women registered in just two months.
“The Lado Lakshmi Yojana is evolving from a simple cash transfer into a holistic initiative,” Chief Minister Saini stated. “We are not just providing immediate relief; we are investing in the future of Haryana’s families and the education of our children.”
