Haryana Natural Farming Scheme promotes sustainable agriculture, training farmers and expanding natural farming area to boost income and soil health.
The Government of Haryana is continuously promoting eco-friendly and sustainable agriculture to empower farmers and improve their economic conditions. The Haryana Natural Farming Scheme has emerged as a key initiative in this direction, aimed at reducing dependency on chemical fertilizers and promoting chemical-free farming practices across the state.
According to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana Natural Farming Scheme is designed to strengthen farmers financially while ensuring long-term soil health and environmental sustainability.
Large-Scale Implementation of Haryana Natural Farming Scheme Since 2022
Launched in 2022, the Scheme includes a dedicated online portal through which farmers can register their land for natural farming practices. So far, around 2 lakh farmers have registered under the scheme, covering nearly 3 lakh acres of agricultural land.
Out of these, verification has been completed for 23,930 farmers covering approximately 44,000 acres. The growing participation reflects increasing trust in the Scheme, which continues to expand its reach across rural Haryana.
Expansion of Natural Farming Area in 2025–26
In the financial year 2025–26, natural farming was actively implemented over 20,727 acres of land under the Haryana Natural Farming Scheme. This expansion highlights the steady shift of farmers toward sustainable agricultural practices supported by the state government.
The Chief Minister stated that the Scheme is not only improving farming practices but also helping farmers reduce input costs and increase profitability.
Training Centers Strengthening Farmer Participation
To ensure effective implementation of the Haryana Natural Farming Scheme, the government has established dedicated training centers in Kurukshetra, Jind, Sirsa, and Karnal. These centers provide hands-on training in natural farming techniques, organic manure preparation, and soil conservation methods.
More than 12,000 participants have already received training, helping to strengthen awareness and adoption of the Haryana Natural Farming Scheme at the grassroots level.
Reducing Costs and Increasing Farmer Income
One of the major objectives of the Haryana Natural Farming Scheme is to reduce farming costs by minimizing the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. This shift is enabling farmers to adopt low-cost, eco-friendly agricultural methods.
The scheme is also expected to improve crop quality, leading to better market value and increased income opportunities for farmers.
Focus on Environmental Sustainability
The Haryana Natural Farming Scheme also plays a crucial role in environmental conservation. By promoting chemical-free farming, the scheme helps restore soil fertility, improve water conservation, and reduce environmental degradation caused by conventional farming methods.
The government aims to expand the Haryana Natural Farming Scheme further so that more farmers can benefit from sustainable agriculture practices.
