Haryana NEWS : Haryana Environment, Forest, and Wildlife Minister Rao Narbir Singh emphasized that environmental conservation has become a global priority due to rising concerns over climate change and pollution. He stressed the need for a more sensitive approach toward nature and wildlife preservation to restore ecological balance. He also acknowledged the significant role played by new startups and the private sector in supporting conservation efforts alongside government initiatives.
In a statement issued today, Minister Rao Narbir Singh urged collective commitment to protecting endangered wildlife species on the occasion of World Wildlife Day, observed on March 3, 2025. He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the significance of wildlife conservation in the 119th episode of “Mann Ki Baat.” The Haryana Forest Department remains dedicated to improving and safeguarding the Aravalli ecosystem, with detailed plans already in place for the Jungle Safari and Aravalli Green Wall Project. Recently, Union Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav inaugurated the Aravalli Green Wall Project.
The Jungle Safari proposal is nearing completion, and efforts are being made to launch it on World Wildlife Day. Minister Rao Narbir Singh mentioned that while the project was initially under the Tourism Department, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has now assigned it to the Forest and Wildlife Department, which is working swiftly toward its execution. To gain insights for the proposed Jungle Safari in the Aravalli region, the minister, along with departmental officials, visited the Gorewada Wildlife Safari in Nagpur (Maharashtra) and the Vantara Project in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The goal is for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Jungle Safari project.
Regarding the Aravalli Green Wall Project, the minister explained that it aims to restore over 1.15 million hectares of land across Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Delhi, serving as a model of multi-state collaboration. The project prioritizes afforestation using native tree species, biodiversity conservation, soil health improvement, and groundwater recharge enhancement.
Minister Rao Narbir Singh further stated that these initiatives would not only create employment opportunities for local communities in the Aravalli region but also contribute to biodiversity conservation and sustainable resource management. In Haryana, efforts are being made to engage the younger generation in environmental awareness and livelihood enhancement through the appointment of Van Mitras to strengthen the connection between communities and forests.
