Haryana: Cabinet accepts measure to improve infrastructure in the fields of education and health.

Haryana: To improve healthcare services and education in the state, the Haryana government introduced the “Appointment of Contractual Faculty Members in Government Medical, Dental, and Nursing Colleges Policy 2023.” The goal of the program is to improve the state’s educational infrastructure by increasing access to healthcare education at the same time that the state is building new medical institutions.

Approved this strategy today, the state Cabinet convened under the direction of Chief Minister Nayab Singh. In addition to guaranteeing adherence to staffing guidelines established by central regulating bodies like the Indian Nursing Council (INC), Dental Council of India (DCI), and National Medical Commission (NMC), it addresses the current scarcity of qualified faculty members in these institutions.
In these contractual recruitments, the reservation policy—both vertical and horizontal—that is periodically relevant for direct recruitment shall be adhered to.

In addition to guaranteeing the smooth provision of top-notch medical education and healthcare services, the Department of Medical Education & Research’s (MER) policy initiative also seeks to guarantee the availability of the necessary number of instructors, physicians, nurses, and other faculty members in government dental, medical, and nursing schools.

According to a government official, it is crucial to note that, despite being unquestionably comprehensive and created to maintain high standards and impartiality, the current recruiting procedure through the “Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC)” is time-consuming.

Recruitment for the positions of assistant professor, associate professor, and professor will take place in accordance with the policy. Likewise, hiring for principal-cum-professor, vice-principal-cum-professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and tutor positions will take place in nursing colleges. The initial term of the appointment would be two years, renewable for an additional two years or until the regular appointments are scheduled, whichever comes first. Teaching staff would be limited to 70 years of age at most.
