Haryana Y-Break Scheme introduces a voluntary 5-minute daily yoga break for industrial employees to support health, focus, stress management and productivity.
The Haryana government has introduced a new workplace wellness initiative aimed at improving the health, focus and efficiency of employees working in industrial units. Under the Haryana Y-Break Scheme, employees will be encouraged to take a five-minute yoga break during their working hours every day.
The initiative has been introduced under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s Budget 2026-27 announcement. The main objective of the Haryana Y-Break Scheme is to make simple yoga practices part of the workplace routine and encourage employees to focus on their physical and mental well-being without significantly affecting regular work.
Yoga Camps and Training Sessions to Be Organised
According to Additional Chief Secretary of the AYUSH Department Dr. Sumita Mishra, yoga camps and training sessions will be organised at industrial units across the state.
The plan aims to ensure that within one month, at least one trained employee is available for every group of 50 workers. Industrial units operating in shifts will follow a similar arrangement, with one trained employee assigned for every 50 workers in each shift.
Companies to Select Employees for Training
Under the Haryana Y-Break Scheme, industrial establishments will select one or two employees for training. These employees will receive guidance from yoga assistants and will later conduct Y-Break sessions for their colleagues at the workplace.
At the district level, the General Managers of District Industries Centres and District Ayurvedic Officers will jointly prepare schedules for yoga camps and training programmes.

What Will the 5-Minute Y-Break Include?
The five-minute session will focus on simple yoga postures, breathing exercises and meditation. Employees will not need any specialised equipment to participate, making the programme suitable for workplaces with limited space and resources.
According to the government, regular participation can help employees manage workplace stress while supporting energy levels, concentration and overall work efficiency. The initiative is also intended to encourage a healthier working environment in industrial establishments.
Official App and Videos to Support Employees
Employees will also be encouraged to use the official Y-Break mobile application and videos provided by the Ministry of AYUSH. These digital resources can help participants understand and follow the recommended exercises during their short workplace sessions.
The Haryana Y-Break Scheme is voluntary, meaning employees will not be forced to participate. The government has stated that the five-minute activity should be conducted safely without disrupting normal workplace operations.
How Will the Scheme Benefit Workers?
The Haryana Y-Break Scheme is designed to provide employees with a short physical and mental break during their working day. Simple yoga, pranayama and meditation practices may help workers relax, refresh themselves and return to their tasks with better focus.
The government plans to expand awareness through training programmes and yoga camps so that more industrial employees can participate. By integrating short wellness sessions into the workday, the initiative seeks to promote healthier workplace habits while maintaining productivity.
