In an unannounced visit on Friday, Punjab HEALTH MINISTER DR. BALBIR inspected the homes of his fellow cabinet ministers and the Leader of Opposition (LOP) as part of the state-wide campaign ‘Har Shukarvar Dengue Te Vaar’, initiated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The inspections uncovered mosquito larvae breeding in desert coolers, flower pots, and bird water containers—underscoring the urgent need for preventive action.
“Dengue can be life-threatening, especially when it progresses to hemorrhagic fever,” said HEALTH MINISTER DR. BALBIR. He stressed that collective action is essential to curb its spread and urged ministers, caretakers, LOP, and the public to actively participate in eliminating mosquito breeding grounds to achieve a dengue-free Punjab.
The Minister instructed officials—from to senior administrators—to scale up public awareness campaigns and engage communities. He directed that Health Committees in every village and neighborhood carry out home inspections every Friday between 9 and 10 a.m. to detect and destroy mosquito larvae.
Calling for widespread public involvement, HEALTH MINISTER DR. BALBIR advised residents to regularly clean desert coolers, keep water containers covered, and avoid water stagnation around homes.
Present during the visit were Principal Secretary Health Kumar Rahul, Director of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Hitinder Kaur, State Program Officer (NVBDCP) Dr. Arshdeep Kaur, along with other senior health officials.
