Attack Incident on August 20
The incident occurred on August 20, when CM Rekha Gupta was conducting a public hearing at her official residence. Rajesh Bhai Khimji, a resident of Gujarat, suddenly attacked the CM. Security personnel present at the scene immediately apprehended the accused.
Following the attack, an FIR was registered at Civil Lines Police Station. During initial questioning, Rajesh Bhai Khimji stated that he was angry over stray dog issues, which led to his sudden aggression.
Investigation Nearing Completion
The investigation revealed that Syed Tasheen Raza assisted Rajesh in planning the attack. The police have collected all crucial evidence against the accused. With the investigation largely complete, the case will now proceed in the Sessions Court, where both suspects will be presented for further hearings.
The Magistrate Court had earlier ordered the transfer of the chargesheet to the Sessions Court. The charges include assault, obstructing security personnel, and conspiracy—highlighting the severity of the attack.
