Zepto Becomes First Major App to Kill Dark Patterns Under Government Pressure
Zepto, a big online shopping app, just changed its app because lots of people complained about the app’s “dark patterns” and how it was tricking them. Some parts of the app were called ‘dark patterns’— that means the app was designed in a sneaky way to make people buy stuff they didn’t really want.

Because of these complaints and pressure from the government, Zepto decided to fix this. They took out the tricky parts of the app so users won’t accidentally buy things anymore.
Zepto also changed how their free delivery works and made their checkout process clearer. Now, when people shop, it’s easier to understand what they’re paying for and when they’ll get their stuff.
This makes Zepto the first big company in the online shopping world to change their app because of these “dark patterns.” Hopefully, this means other apps will follow and be more honest too.
