Under the humanitarian initiative and guidance of CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Medical Education Department has taken a sensitive step to provide free medical facilities to the helpless, deprived, mentally challenged, abandoned and unknown patients. Now health services will be provided free of cost to these patients through Rajasthan Medical Relief Society. For this, a joint MoU has been signed by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Department of Medical Education. Under this, free medical facilities will be provided to patients brought to hospitals through registered charitable trusts or NGOs.
Hence, the benefits of the scheme could not be availed.
The guidelines in this regard have been issued under the joint signature of Additional Chief Secretary, Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Kuldeep Ranka and Secretary, Medical Education Department, Ambrish Kumar. The Medical Education Secretary said that it was often seen that helpless, mentally disabled, abandoned or unknown patients were found in destitute condition at railway stations, bus stands, religious places and other public places and such persons were brought to hospitals by charitable trusts or NGOs, but in the absence of identity cards (Aadhaar / Jan Aadhaar / others), it was not possible to provide them free treatment, operation or implant in Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana or other schemes. To take advantage of these schemes, it is necessary to be a resident of Rajasthan and have an identity card. Such people could not get treatment due to lack of identity or address or identity card of being a resident of Rajasthan.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the way to save lives –
In view of this situation, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma had directed to provide free medical facilities to such patients. Following this, the Medical Education Department and the Social Justice and Empowerment Department have issued guidelines for proper treatment of such patients. According to these, patients brought by trusts or NGOs registered with the Social Justice and Empowerment Department or the Devasthan Department will get free treatment in the hospitals of the Medical Education Department. Such trusts or NGOs will only have to issue a certificate that the patient brought is helpless, deprived, abandoned or unknown. This certificate will be sufficient for free treatment. A Joint Committee has been constituted by the Department of Medical Education and Social Justice and Empowerment, which will authorise the Trust / NGO and ensure cooperation on the basis of the MoU. The expenditure under the scheme will be borne through RMRS.
A big step towards humanity.
It is noteworthy that health services are completely free for the people of the state in government medical institutions. Now this MoU will further expand the scope of these free services. This will make it easier for those living below the poverty line, widows / orphans / unmarried persons, accident patients and elderly persons above 65 years of age to seek treatment. The needy and needy patients will be able to get treatment easily. This step of the Rajasthan government is an important initiative towards humanity.
