Delhi: Heavy rain brings relief from heat; IMD issues ‘yellow alert’
IMD: Throughout the day, a thunderstorm with light to moderate rain and sporadic heavy rain is predicted over Delhi and the surrounding areas.
IMD: On Thursday morning, the national capital of Delhi experienced heavy rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted moderate-to-heavy rainfall across the Delhi-NCR region throughout the day.
Over Delhi and the surrounding areas, a thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and sporadic heavy rain is predicted throughout the day. Winds of 20 to 40 kmph will persist as well, an IMD spokesperson stated.
Due to some overnight showers, Thursday’s minimum temperature decreased as well.
According to IMD, Safdarjung, a weather representative for Delhi, had a small amount of rain until 8:30 am.
On Thursday, the minimum was recorded at 28.6°C. Wednesday’s low was 31.6°C, which is four degrees warmer than usual.
Additionally, IMD has issued a “yellow alert” till July 3rd, indicating that moderate to heavy rain is expected to persist.

If the predicted rainfall falls between 64.5mm and 115.5mm, a yellow notice is issued.
IMD authorities stated that by this weekend, the maximum is predicted to display a decreasing trend as well, dropping to 34°C. The Wednesday high was 39°C.
“The remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh; some more parts of Rajasthan; remaining parts of Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar; most parts of East Uttar Pradesh; some more parts of West Uttar Pradesh; some parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh -Gilgit-Baltistan -Muzaffarabad, the northern parts of Punjab and northern parts of Haryana during next three to four days,” the IMD stated in its monsoon bulletin on Wednesday evening.
