The announcements made by the CM Vishnu Deo Sai on 9th May at village Baldakchhar during Sushasan Tihar are now coming to the ground. In line with the priority of the Chief Minister, the district administration has directed the concerned departments to conduct immediate survey and plan.
Under the guidance of Collector Deepak Soni, a team of engineers of Water Resources Department and CREDA reached Baldakchhar today. The team started the process of survey for two important works – construction of embankment on Krimahandi river bank and installation of high mast light in the village.
Embankment for flood protection
Every year there is a relief news for Baldakchhar village facing erosion due to Mahanadi flood. According to the Water Resources Department, the construction of a pucca embankment on the right bank of Mahanadi has been proposed to protect the village from erosion. According to the preliminary survey, a cement-concrete structure with a slant height of 5 meters will be built in a length of about one and a half kilometres, which will prevent erosion. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 888 crore.
Darkness to light up villages: High mast light scheme
Acting on CM Vishnu Deo Sai’s announcement, the CREDAI department has also selected the site for installing high mast lights in the village. The engineers along with the sarpanch and villagers have considered Gudi Chowk and Kamarpara as suitable sites. The relevant estimates are being prepared and submitted for approval.
Sensitive decisions on the voice of the people
It may be recalled that CM Vishnu Deo Sai had listened to the problems of the villagers during a surprise inspection at Baldakachhar during Sushasan Tihar. Understanding the priorities of the people, he made prompt announcements and directed the officials to take immediate action. Now the prompt efforts being made by the administration are proof that the Chief Minister’s announcements are turning out to be practical and not mere formality.
This initiative started in Baldakchhar is not only important from the point of view of security and development of the village, but it is also a testimony to the sensitivity and accountability of the governance. By quickly implementing the promises made to the people, the government has proved that good governance in Chhattisgarh is now a realisation process, not just words.
