JD(U) leader Saurabh Shukla was returning from a wedding when he was shot and killed by unidentified miscreants close to Patna.

On Wednesday night, while returning from a wedding in Punpun, near Patna, an unidentified man shot and killed a leader of Janata Dal United. According to a police official, Saurabh Shukla was shot by unidentified miscreants while returning from a reception function where he had gone with his pals.

Saurabh Shukla arrived at a reception gathering accompanied by his pals. Unknown miscreants shot him while he was returning; he was rushed to the hospital where another individual, Munmun Kumar, also suffered injuries “Sub-Divisional Police Officer Masaurhi Kanhaiya Singh stated.

“They were taken to Kankarbagh Uma hospital, however, by then Saurabh Shukla died; we are examining the matter…,” he added.
Soon after, there were political reactions. The Bharatiya Janata Party declared that action would be taken because of the state’s government, which it had formed in alliance with JDU, having a solid track record.

Spokesman for the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Mrityunjay Tiwari, claimed that the government led by the NDA had instituted “criminal rule”.
