India rejects the OIC resolution on Jammu and Kashmir, accusing Pakistan of orchestrating malicious anti-India references and questioning the group’s credibility.
India on Monday, October 19, strongly rejected a resolution on Jammu and Kashmir adopted by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), accusing Pakistan of orchestrating what New Delhi described as malicious, biased and false references against the country. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the grouping had once again allowed itself to be misused to advance Pakistan’s agenda.
The resolution was adopted during the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting held in Baghdad on October 17 and 18, 2026. India objected to the references concerning Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of the country.
India Calls OIC Resolution on Jammu and Kashmir Biased
In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs categorically rejected the anti-India references included in the resolutions adopted at the OIC meeting.
The MEA described the remarks as politically motivated and alleged that Pakistan had orchestrated them to pursue its own agenda. It also expressed disappointment that the international grouping had once again allowed itself to be used to promote what India called a bigoted narrative.
New Delhi further maintained that the OIC has no standing to comment on matters that fall exclusively within India’s internal jurisdiction.
India has consistently opposed international organisations’ statements on Jammu and Kashmir, maintaining that the region’s constitutional and administrative status is an internal matter.
India Highlights Development in Jammu and Kashmir
Responding to the OIC’s remarks, the MEA said Jammu and Kashmir had witnessed significant economic progress following the abrogation of Article 370.
According to the ministry, infrastructure expansion, improved connectivity and growth in tourism have contributed to development in the region and brought benefits directly to its residents.
India reiterated that political statements and what it described as propaganda would not change the country’s position on Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The government has repeatedly maintained that development initiatives and improved infrastructure are central to its approach towards the region.
MEA Accuses Pakistan of Violence in PoJK
The MEA also criticised Pakistan over the situation in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), contrasting it with the developments India says have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir.
The ministry accused Islamabad of unleashing violence and repression against civilian protesters, alleging that the crackdown had resulted in the deaths of numerous people, including women and children.

It further said that restrictions on media coverage had not been sufficient to conceal what it described as serious human rights violations.
India’s statement argued that the situation in Pakistan-occupied areas deserved greater international attention rather than resolutions targeting India.
India Reiterates Its Position on Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir
The MEA said the outstanding issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir were Pakistan’s withdrawal from territories under its illegal occupation and an end to its continued support for cross-border terrorism.
India has maintained that Pakistan must vacate the areas under its occupation and stop activities that New Delhi considers a threat to regional security.
The ministry reiterated that international statements would not alter India’s position on the territorial status of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
India Questions OIC’s Credibility Over Anti-India Remarks
India also objected to other references in the OIC resolutions, including remarks concerning Islamophobia. The MEA described these allegations as an attempt to divert international attention from Pakistan’s own record on minority rights, sectarian violence, governance and political instability.
According to the ministry, the OIC’s repeated endorsement of narratives promoted by Pakistan raises questions about the organisation’s credibility and integrity.
New Delhi expressed hope that the member countries would encourage reforms within the grouping and ensure that it does not become a platform for politically motivated allegations against individual states.
The latest exchange highlights continuing diplomatic differences between India and the OIC over Jammu and Kashmir. India has reiterated that the region is an integral part of the country, while firmly rejecting external commentary on what it considers internal matters.
The Indian government has also called on Pakistan to address concerns relating to cross-border terrorism and its control over Pakistan-occupied territories rather than pursuing international resolutions against India.
