The 78th batch of Indian Revenue Service officer trainees met with the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 4, 2025.
The President stated that evolving times, rising expectations, and government initiatives have ushered in a new era of enhanced efficiency, transparency, and convenience, with digital technology playing a central role in this transformation. She expressed satisfaction that the Income Tax Department leverages advanced data analytics to detect discrepancies with exceptional accuracy while ensuring minimal inconvenience to honest taxpayers.
She reminded the officers that technology is merely a tool and cannot replace human values. While data-driven systems can improve efficiency, they should never overshadow empathy and integrity. She emphasized that their policies and actions should focus on inclusive development, particularly benefiting the underprivileged and weaker sections of society.
The 78th batch of Indian Revenue Service Officer Trainees, along with two Officer Trainees from the Royal Bhutan Service, is currently undergoing Induction training at the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT) in Nagpur.
