TASL’s 740,000 sq ft Karnataka Factory to Include MRO Operations — ‘Make in India’ Initiative

Karnataka was chosen over Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur due to its mature aerospace ecosystem, existing TASL infrastructure, and attractive incentives offered by the state government, such as land subsidies, production-linked benefits, and streamlined clearance processes. TASL has secured a 740,000 sq ft area for the project, which will also include maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities.
This announcement comes alongside a parallel Tata-Airbus project in Vadodara, Gujarat, where a C295 military aircraft assembly plant is under construction. While the Gujarat project has faced political criticism over perceived favoritism, the Karnataka factory is being widely seen as a win for balanced regional development and private sector participation in India’s defence and civil aviation sectors.
