INS Mumbai : The indigenous destroyer, deployed in the South Eastern Ocean Region, has arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, for an operational visit.
The indigenously designed and built guided missile destroyer, INS Mumbai, is taking part in the fourth edition of the Multinational Exercise LA PEROUSE. This edition includes participants from several maritime partners, such as the Royal Australian Navy, French Navy, Royal Navy, United States Navy, Indonesian Navy, Royal Malaysian Navy, Republic of Singapore Navy, and Royal Canadian Navy.
The exercise aims to foster common Maritime Situational Awareness by improving cooperation in maritime surveillance, interdiction operations, and air operations, along with progressive training and information sharing. It offers an opportunity for navies with shared interests to strengthen their planning, coordination, and information-sharing capabilities for better tactical interoperability. The exercise will feature complex multi-domain drills, including surface warfare, anti-air warfare, air defense, cross-deck landings, tactical maneuvers, and constabulary missions like VBSS (Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure) operations.
India’s participation in the exercise highlights the strong synergy, coordination, and interoperability among like-minded navies, as well as their dedication to maintaining a rules-based international maritime order. This visit aligns with India’s SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision, which promotes enhanced maritime cooperation and ensures a safer and more secure Indo-Pacific region.
