Chennai Super Kings suffered a serious injury three weeks before the start of their title defence, with opening batsman Devon Conway ruled out until May. Conway, who scored man of the match in the 2023 final against Gujarat Titans in Chennai, will be out for almost eight weeks after undergoing surgery on his left thumb last week.

Conway came into focus in 2022 when CSK paid Rs 100 crore for the New Zealand star in a mega auction. He played 23 matches for the franchise and scored 924 runs at 48.63. 9 of these appearances were 50 runs. Last season he scored 672 runs in 16 games, including 6 50 runs, and this was his most significant achievement.
IPL 2024: The IPL schedule was announced last month with only the first 21 matches of the 2024 season. The further schedule of events will be announced after the date of the Indian general elections is announced. During this period, CSK will play four matches against RCB, Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The first two games will be played at home and the last two games will be played away.
