IPL 2024: The captain of the Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant, could face a heavy punishment for the second time in the Twenty24 Indian Premier League when his team bowls slowly against the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 3.
The Indian Premier League’s (IPL) disciplinary committee has punished Delhi Capitals (DC) for their poor over rate during Wednesday’s (April 4) IPL 2024 match between DC and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Visakhapatnam. In addition, Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC), received a heavy fine of INR 24 lakhs.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, Delhi Capitals (DC) were fined for the second time for a sluggish over-rate infringement. The IPL code of conduct stipulates that repeat offenders will face harsher punishments.
IPL 2024: The remaining Delhi Capitals players, including those in the starting lineup and designated impact players, have also been punished for persistently breaking the IPL code of conduct, in addition to captain Rishabh Pant. According to the punishment imposed, each player must pay a fine of Rs 6 lakh, which is equivalent to 25% of their match fee.
“Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Delhi Capitals, has been fined for his team’s slow over rate in their April 3 TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
“Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs because it was his team’s second offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct pertaining to minimum over rate offenses. The Indian Premier League (IPL) released a statement. “The remaining members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is less.”
The Delhi Capitals (DC) led by Rishabh Pant suffered a crushing 106-run defeat at the hands of the reigning Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the DC vs. KKR IPL 2024 match that took place in Vizag on Wednesday, April 3. The batsmen for KKR outperformed the DC bowlers, racking up an impressive 272/7 in the 20 overs that they were given. In the history of the competition, this is the second-highest IPL total.
