Jailer 2 gets UA 16+ CBFC certification with a runtime of 165.18 minutes. Know its release date, cast, certification and other details.
Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilipkumar are all set to return with their much-awaited action entertainer Jailer 2, which is scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 15. The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer has now completed an important pre-release milestone after receiving certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Jailer 2 gets CBFC certification
Jailer 2 received its CBFC certification on October 6, just days before its theatrical release. The film has been awarded a UA 16+ certificate and has a total runtime of 165.18 minutes, which translates to approximately 2 hours, 45 minutes and 11 seconds.
Interestingly, Jailer 2 is slightly shorter than its predecessor. The 2023 film Jailer had a runtime of 168.47 minutes, or around 2 hours, 48 minutes and 28 seconds. The first film also carried a UA certification and was released in theatres on August 10, 2023.

Jailer 2 is shorter than the first film
With a runtime of nearly 2 hours and 45 minutes, Jailer 2 is around three minutes shorter than the original movie. Despite the shorter duration, the sequel promises another large-scale action-packed story featuring Rajinikanth in the lead.
The film has generated considerable anticipation among fans, especially because Nelson Dilipkumar returns to direct after the success of the first instalment.
Digital ‘Super Show’ ahead of release
Instead of holding a conventional audio launch, the makers have planned a special digital event titled ‘Super Show’. The event featuring Rajinikanth and other members of the Jailer 2 team will stream on SunNXT from October 9.
The promotional video gives fans a glimpse of the team preparing for the special programme. There have also been reports about a possible three-hour interview with Rajinikanth on Sun TV, although the claim has not been officially confirmed.
The film’s music was previously unveiled at the Jailer 2 RAVE event on September 30. The musical event is also available for streaming on SunNXT.
Star-studded cast of Jailer 2
Jailer 2 has been written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. Rajinikanth returns as the central character, while Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik are also reprising their roles.
The sequel expands the cast with actors including SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna.
The film will also feature special appearances by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff. Following the trailer release, speculation grew that Hrithik Roshan could also make a cameo after the makers teased a mystery character through a silhouette. However, there is no official confirmation regarding his appearance.
When will Jailer 2 release?
Jailer 2 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15. With its CBFC certification now complete, the Rajinikanth-starrer has cleared a major step ahead of its big-screen debut.
The combination of Rajinikanth’s star power, Nelson Dilipkumar’s direction and returning as well as new cast members has made the sequel one of the most anticipated Tamil releases.
