CM Bhajanlal Sharma unveils a new blueprint for the Jaipur Traffic System. Learn about signal-free roads, new elevated corridors, and the Integrated Command Center.
In a significant move to transform the urban mobility of the Pink City, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has unveiled a comprehensive master plan to make the Jaipur Traffic System solid and smooth. During a mega meeting held at the CMO on Thursday, the CM coordinated with the Chief Secretary, Police, and administrative officials from JDA and the Municipal Corporation to draft a new integrated blueprint aimed at ending the city’s congestion woes.
Integrated Command Center for Real-Time Management
A key highlight of the proposed Jaipur Traffic System is the establishment of a new Integrated Command Center. This center will act as a central hub where JDA, Transport, Traffic Police, and the Municipal Corporation will work in synergy. Designed as a model for traffic management and security, this center will enable real-time monitoring and swift response to road blockages or accidents.
Signal-Free Corridors and Double U-Turns
To provide immediate relief to commuters, the government has decided to make Sikar Road, New Sangeener Road, and Mahal Road in Jagatpura signal-free. The administration is working on a plan to implement double U-turns to ensure seamless movement. Additionally, the ‘free-left turn’ model successfully implemented at Rambagh Circle will now be replicated across all major busy intersections under the revamped Jaipur Traffic System.

Strategic Steps to Improve Traffic Flow:
Lane Discipline: CM Sharma has directed JDA to prioritize lane marking and circle construction at identified intersections.
Closing Irregular Median Openings: To prevent accidents and congestion, irregular cuts on major roads will be closed, and specific U-turn spots will be designated.
Pedestrian Safety: Controlled crossing systems will be installed at major squares and markets to ensure safe passage for pedestrians.
School Zone Safety: Clear signboards, speed control measures, and zebra crossings will be mandatory in all school areas to protect students within the Jaipur Traffic System.
Special Guidelines for JLN Marg and New Elevated Roads
As JLN Marg serves as the city’s primary VIP route, a separate detailed guideline is being prepared to manage its high-density traffic. Furthermore, the CM has fast-tracked the construction of ROBS at CBI Gate, Saligrampura Gate, and Civil Lines Gate. The DPR for the proposed Aranya Bhawan-Jagatpura elevated road and the Dravyavati elevated corridor will be prepared shortly to further decongest the Jaipur Traffic System.
Technology and Public Awareness
The Traffic Police also presented modern solutions such as the VOC mobile app, ITMS (Intelligent Traffic Management System), and the use of drone technology for monitoring. To foster a culture of road safety, the government will engage NGOs and use FM radio to broadcast traffic awareness messages.
With these extensive reforms, the Jaipur Traffic System is set to become one of the most technologically advanced and commuter-friendly urban networks in the country.
