Deepika Padukone Exits Kalki 2898 AD Sequel
Actor Deepika Padukone, who played SUM-80 in director Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD, has reportedly opted out of the sequel due to unforeseen circumstances. The production house Vyjayanthi Movies released an official statement addressing the decision, emphasizing the importance of full commitment for the ambitious project.

The second part of the film is expected to go on floors later this year. Vyjayanthi Movies noted that despite a long and collaborative working relationship during the making of the first film, they were unable to align schedules and expectations with Deepika for the sequel.
“And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works,” the statement read.
This isn’t the first time Deepika has exited a major project due to scheduling or work-condition issues. Earlier this year, she reportedly opted out of director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film, reportedly after requesting a strict eight-hour work schedule.
