Chandigarh, July 19 –

Kanwar Yatra: The Haryana government has made all necessary made all necessary preparations for the safe travel and harmony of the devotees participating in the Kanwar Yatra on the occasion of Shivratri. Necessary directions have been issued to the officials for this purpose.

A government spokesperson, while providing information in this regard today, stated that many devotees from Haryana carry Kanwar from Haridwar on the occasion of Shivratri. Most devotees bring Kanwar via the Yamunanagar route. Stringent directions have been issued to officials of various departments to ensure the safety of Shiva devotees/Kawariyas. Police personnel have been deployed on main and other routes, and the police department will remain fully vigilant during the Kanwar Yatra to ensure that law and order are maintained.

He mentioned that the state government is fully alert regarding the Kanwar Yatra, which will take place from July 22 to August 2, 2024. Officers have also reviewed the preparations in a meeting concerning Kanwar pilgrims in Yamunanagar district.

The spokesperson further mentioned that the police department has been instructed to pay special attention to ensure that traffic is not disrupted. He informed that duty magistrates will be appointed throughout the district during the Kanwar Yatra, accompanied by the concerned station managers. If necessary, the Kanwar Yatra may also be diverted.

He stated that social and religious organizations setting up camps for Kanwariyas at various places will need to obtain permission from the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) of their respective sub-division areas, such as Jagadhri/Bilaspur/Radaur. All camps should be set up at a distance of 200 feet from the road, on the left side coming from Haridwar-Saharanpur, and away from the road. The registration of these camps should be completed in advance with the office of the concerned Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil).

He also mentioned that camps for Kanwariyas should be set up at an appropriate distance from religious places of other communities. Additionally, parking arrangements should be made away from the road to avoid any disruption in traffic and ensure the smooth conduct of the Kanwar Yatra. The organizers of the Kanwar camps are instructed to provide adequate facilities such as CCTV cameras, separate toilets for men and women, and to divert traffic on routes heavily used by Kanwariyas.
