Karmma Calling: Will Star Raveena Tandon as the Glamorous Queen of the Nineties

Karmma Calling

Actress Raveena Tandon claims that she has always looked for varied parts and that playing the uber-sultry billionaire’s wife in “Karmma Calling” was something she had been wanting to accomplish. Tandon, who made her streaming debut with the critically praised Netflix series “Aranyak,” announced that one of the four projects she would be appearing in this year is her new show, which will be available to stream onDisney+ Hotstar. In addition, she had leading roles in the feature films Welcome to Jungle, Patna Shukla, and Ghudchadi.

Karmma Calling: I’ve always made a conscious effort to play something more difficult and entirely different rather than playing the same characters again and over. In these productions, I get to play a variety of personalities, and I hope I do them right,” the actor said to PTI.

In “Karmma Calling”, Tandon plays the role of Indrani Kothari, a glamorous queen of the 90s who is married to a billionaire, whose life takes a change when a mysterious woman, Karma, enters the scene. Based on the well-liked 2011 American television series “Revenge,”

“It’s a character that I was fully waiting to do,” the actor remarked.

“I’ve portrayed a grieving mother in ‘Maatr,’ a police officer in ‘Aranyak,’ a prime minister named Ramika Sen in ‘KGF 2,’ and a different character in ‘Welcome to Jungle.'” This ultra-glam role in “Karmma Calling” is about to happen. This was something I could do in the time period I had available. Everything just clicked,” she continued.

Working on “Karmma Calling” with up-and-coming performers like Namrata Sheth and Varun Sood brought Tandon back to her early career, when her fellow actors helped her give the role her all.

“Everyone must shine in a play or movie; the product will only shine if everyone does. I’ll try my hardest and make sure that I bring out the best in others, but I’m not playing an individual sport where I only shine. The winner of the race will ultimately be a team effort, according to Tandon.

She also thanked her co-stars, Nana Patekar, from the criminal thriller “Ghulam-E-Mustafa,” and Govinda, with whom she worked on a number of popular comedies, including “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” “Dulhe Raja,” and “Anari No. 1.”

“With heroes, we’ve always got that wonderful tune. My comedic timing would be aided by Chichi Govinda. He would assist me with the scenes while I worked on films with Nana Patekar. When I was younger, there was a very difficult scene in “Ghulam-E-Musthafa.” I had to cry as I was speaking in that scene. It became one of the most talked about sequences after Nana sat with me and instructed me to do it this way.

“I developed my time sense with Chichi. Thus, there are instances where we’ve all supported one another’s development,” Tandon added.

Director Ruchi Narain disclosed during the “Karmma Calling” trailer premiere event that she had to wait ten years for Tandon to join the cast.

The actor claimed to have experienced similar situations with directors Rajkumar Santoshi and Onir, whose films are respectively titled “Andaz Apna Apna” and “Shab.”

We were destined to work on this project together, and Ruchi and I consider this to be our Karmma Calling. This is a fantastic thing, and we have developed as a team, discussed the project, and finally carried it out. Tandon praised Ruchi as a skilled director who pays attention to character development and subtleties.

“Karmma Calling” will debut on Disney+ Hotstar on January 26.
