Kunal Kamra Slams Mumbai Cops as ‘Waste of Time’ Over Visit to Old Home
Kunal Kamra is back in the news, and this time, it’s because of a comment he made about the Mumbai cops. Here’s what happened: When the police showed up at his old Mahim home on Monday, trying to find him in connection with his “gaddar” (traitor) remark about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Kunal Kamra wasn’t having it. Instead of quietly handling the situation, Kunal Kamra took to social media with a hilarious yet pointed jab at the police. In a post on social media, Kamra made a pointed remark, saying he hadn’t lived at that address for the past ten years. In the post, he shared a picture of himself from his current home in Tamil Nadu and wrote, “Going to an address where I haven’t lived for the last 10 years is a waste of your time and public resources.” It was a sharp jab at the police for, in his view, wasting their time by tracking him down at an address he no longer called home.
Meanwhile, the netizens expressed their support under the post, as a user commented, “HE’S THE KINDA PERSON I ASPIRE TO BE.” There was this another follower who made a sarcastic comment which read “Move to Manipur. That way the government might enter its foot there finally!”.

Kunal Kamra’s Ongoing Legal Battle: Here is What Actually Happened:
The whole drama started on 23 March 2025, when Kunal Kamra made a comment about Shinde during his stand-up special Naya Bharat, which sparked outrage. The remark caught the attention of Shiv Sena workers, who later vandalized the venue where the special was filmed. Things took a legal turn when multiple FIRs were filed against Kamra, with three new ones registered across Maharashtra. As the case developed, the police took their investigation further, leading them to Kunal Kamra’s old address. Kunal, however, wasn’t having it.
Kunal Kamra was summoned to appear at the Khar police station, but when he didn’t show up, the police decided to pay a visit to his old family home in Mahim. Kamra, however, wasn’t too worried about it. He used the situation to poke fun at the police, calling attention to what he saw as an absurd effort.
In response to the legal proceedings, the Madras High Court granted Kamra anticipatory bail until April 7, giving him some breathing room. But with the investigation ongoing and more FIRs piling up, this isn’t likely to end anytime soon.
Despite the growing legal battles, Kamra remains unapologetically vocal. His stand-up comedy has always pushed boundaries, and his social media presence is no different. Whether it’s calling out political figures or taking jabs at the authorities, Kamra doesn’t shy away from controversy.
While the comedian faces mounting legal pressure, support from his peers in the comedy world continues to pour in. Fellow comedian Tanmay Bhat even shared that he’d received messages from people checking on Kamra’s wellbeing, a sign of the camaraderie that exists within the comedy community.
