Kurukshetra University, Vice-Chancellor Professor Som Nath Sachdeva has stated that promoting research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance is a priority for Kurukshetra University. To support student interests in self-employment, the university has established two incubation centres, a startup, employment creation centre, a centre for training, internships, and an employment cell.

Professor Som Nath Sachdeva expressed these views at the inauguration event of the electric car developed as a project by B.Tech students from the KU’s Department of Instrumentation.

Congratulating the students, the department head, and faculty members, Professor Sachdeva said that KU students have made history by developing an electric car at a low cost while keeping green environment on priority.

On this occasion, he emphasized that Kurukshetra University’s aim is to make young students self-reliant through startups, innovation, and entrepreneurship so that they can not only secure employment for themselves but also provide employment to others, thereby ensuring their participation in nation-building.

Department Head Dr. Surender Kumar explained that the cost of the EV car was 70,000 rupees, and the car features a regenerative braking system that charges the battery when brakes are applied. In the future, the department’s students plan to convert it into a solar car and obtain a patent for it.
