The launching ceremony of the 9th ACTCM Barge, LSAM 23 (Yard 133), took place on 31st January 2025 at M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane. Cmde R. Anand, AGM (COM)/ND (Mbi), graced the event as the Chief Guest.
The contract for constructing 11 Ammunition, Torpedo, and Missile (ACTCM) Barges was awarded to MSME Shipyard, M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane, on 5th March 2021. These barges have been indigenously designed and built in collaboration with an Indian ship design firm and the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). To ensure their seaworthiness, model testing was conducted at the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatnam.
So far, the shipyard has successfully delivered eight barges, which are actively used by the Indian Navy for operational requirements, including the transportation, embarkation, and disembarkation of ammunition and other supplies to naval platforms, both alongside jetties and in outer harbors.
These barges stand as proud symbols of the “Make in India” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives, reinforcing the Government of India’s commitment to indigenous defense manufacturing.
