Maatrubhumi OTT release rumours have been dismissed. Salman Khan’s film is set for a theatrical release, not a direct OTT premiere.
Mumbai: Salman Khan’s upcoming film Salman Khan Maatrubhumi has been at the centre of speculation regarding its release strategy. However, fresh reports have dismissed claims that the film will skip theatres and opt for a direct OTT release.
The discussion around Maatrubhumi OTT release gained momentum after reports suggested that the film was undergoing “sanitisation,” including the removal of references linked to China. This led to widespread rumours that the project might bypass cinemas entirely.
No Direct-to-OTT Plan for Maatrubhumi
According to industry sources quoted by Bollywood Hungama, the rumours about a Maatrubhumi OTT release are completely false. The source clarified that the film is designed for a theatrical experience and will not be moved directly to streaming platforms.
The insider stated that Salman Khan and director Apoorva Lakhia are fully committed to a big-screen release. Once all pending issues around the film are resolved, it will be released in cinemas.

Why OTT Release Rumours Spread
Speculation around Maatrubhumi OTT release also grew due to misunderstandings about censorship rules on streaming platforms. Industry experts clarified that even OTT-bound films must undergo certification before release.
This means a direct Maatrubhumi OTT release would still require approval from regulatory authorities, similar to theatrical releases.
Film Undergoing Major Changes
Originally titled Battle of Galwan, the project has undergone major changes, including a title shift to Maatrubhumi and reported reshoots. The earlier version focused on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese forces.
The revised version of the film has removed sensitive references, which also fueled speculation about a possible Maatrubhumi OTT release.
Star Cast and Storyline
The film stars Salman Khan as an Indian Army Colonel, along with Chitrangda Singh in a key role. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced under Salman Khan Films, the movie focuses on courage, sacrifice, and emotional depth.
Despite ongoing discussions around Maatrubhumi OTT release, no official release date has been announced yet.
