President Smt. Draupadi Murmu honoured Indore and other cities of Madhya Pradesh with the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25 awards. Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Manohar Lal Khattar and Minister of State Shri Tokhan Sahu were also present at the ceremony. Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya and Minister of State Smt. Pratima Bagri received the award on behalf of the state at the event held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. Mayors and municipal officials from the award-winning cities were also present on the occasion.
“Indore honoured once again”
Indore was once again awarded as the Best City in the Swachh League category for cities with a population of over 10 lakh. In the same segment, Ujjain received the Best City award among cities with a population between 3 and 10 lakh. Budhni was recognised as the best city in the category of towns with a population of less than 20,000.
“Capital Bhopal gets Clean City award”
Capital Bhopal has secured the second prize in the Clean City category for cities with a population of over 10 lakh. In the same survey, Dewas received the first prize among cities with a population between 50,000 and 3 lakh, while Shahganj secured the third prize in the category of cities with a population of less than 20,000. Additionally, Jabalpur was recognized as a Safai Mitra Safe City, and Gwalior was awarded the title of Promising Clean City.
“Other cities of the State also shine”
In the Swachh Survekshan 2024–25, Madhya Pradesh’s cities continued to make their mark. Among cities with a population of over 10 lakh, Bhopal ranked 2nd, Jabalpur 5th, and Gwalior 14th. A total of 203 cities from the state received Star Rating Certification—an increase of 12 percent compared to 157 cities last year. In the survey, Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur earned a prestigious 7-Star rating, while Dewas, Rewa, and Satna were awarded 5-Star status. Additionally, 36 cities secured a 3-Star rating, and 161 cities received a 1-Star rating. Urban Administration and Development Commissioner Shri Sanket Bhondve attributed the outstanding performance to the dedication and hard work of Safai Mitras. He affirmed that continuous efforts will be made to ensure all urban areas of the state achieve top rankings in cleanliness parameters.
