Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra: A Grand Success at Gita Mahotsav

The Haryana Tourism Corporation has made a remarkable contribution to the ongoing Gita Mahotsav by opening two blocks of the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra to visitors. Located at Jyotisar, the sacred site where Lord Krishna is believed to have delivered the Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna, the center offers a profound and immersive experience of the epic Mahabharata. Despite only two out of five blocks being operational, the center has already drawn over 7,000 visitors in the past five days, marking it as a resounding success during the Mahotsav celebrations.

The Jyotisar Anubhav Kendra, inaugurated by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi on February 16, 2024, features six themed buildings designed to present various facets of the Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita. Developed to promote Kurukshetra as Gita Bhoomi and attract tourists from across India under Haryana’s tourism initiatives, the center leverages cutting-edge technology such as 3D mapping, holography, and interactive displays to bring the epic Mahabharata vividly to life. The captivating storytelling, combined with cutting-edge visuals, has particularly resonated with school students, who expressed excitement at the engaging and innovative presentation.

A Visionary Experience

Visitors are taken on an unforgettable journey through meticulously designed galleries, starting with a levitating Sudarshan Chakra, a replica of the Mahabharata’s oldest copy, and a stunning 3D mural of ancient Bharat. The galleries immerse viewers in key moments of the epic, from Draupadi’s Swayamvar to the game of Chausar, culminating in a breathtaking 360-degree projection of the Kurukshetra battlefield. Feedback from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive, with one tourist from Uttar Pradesh remarking, “I never imagined such a magnificent replication of the Mahabharata could exist.”

Economic and Cultural Boost

This innovative center is not only providing a deeper understanding of India’s rich heritage but is also anticipated to boost the local economy by attracting thousands of tourists and devotees. HTC officers noted that the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra has become a focal point of the Gita Mahotsav, reflecting the public’s enthusiasm for connecting with history and mythology in a modern, engaging way.

Haryana Principal Secretary, Heritage and Tourism, Smt. Kala Ramachandran has appealed to visitors to explore this unique museum during the Mahotsav, emphasising its role in blending the timeless messages of the Mahabharata with contemporary technology to inspire future generations.

With the remaining sections expected to open in the coming weeks, the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra stands as a shining example of Haryana Tourism’s vision to create immersive cultural experiences, leaving visitors spellbound and eager to return.
