Mahesh Babu trains in martial arts and changes his running style to embody Lord Ram in SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, promising a powerful performance alongside Priyanka Chopra.
Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu is leaving no stone unturned to bring authenticity to his role as Rudhra, embodying Lord Ram, in SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated film Varanasi. The actor has undergone months of rigorous preparation, including martial arts training and refining his running technique, to convincingly portray the epic character on screen.
In an interview with Screen Rant Plus, Mahesh Babu shared insights into the meticulous physical training required under Rajamouli’s guidance. “There’s a method to everything. Playing Lord Ram requires precision in posture, the way your character walks, and your stance. I trained extensively in Kalari, a traditional martial art from Kerala, for two to three months to perfect this,” he revealed.
Additionally, Mahesh focused on modifying his running style to suit the role, training for six months with a track and field team. “Even though there are only two shots in the film with this specific technique, the commitment was necessary. It was challenging, but fun. When you’re in the mindset, you don’t see it as hard work,” the actor said.
